This study aims to investigate guidelines for developing the potential of rooftop solar power generation systems at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University. Ten buildings were selected from 121 remaining buildings after ten buildings had already been installed with rooftop solar power generation systems. The selection was based on building evaluation criteria. The study analyzes the potential of rooftop solar power generation systems, greenhouse gas emission reduction (carbon credits), and economic feasibility using engineering economic analysis. The results indicate that the physical potential of solar radiation intensity for the ten selected buildings is 4.73 kWh/m²/day, while the physical potential of rooftop area is 54,472.04 kWh/day. Technical analysis using PVsyst software modeling shows that the installed capacity is 2,482 kWp, with an annual electricity generation of 3,663.85 MWh. Environmental analysis demonstrates a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 1,868.93 tCO2 per year. Economic analysis is conducted using financial assumptions based on the minimum retail rate (MRR), with a discount rate of 7.295%, an electricity tariff of 4.73 baht per unit (average electricity cost in 2024), a project lifespan of 25 years, and inverter replacement every 10 years. The results show that the net present value of the project is 257,579,308.81 baht, the internal rate of return is 26.49%, and the discounted payback period is 3.60 years. In addition, the system can reduce electricity costs by up to 65% of the university's total electricity consumption. The potential analysis confirms that rooftop solar power generation systems at Chiang Rai Rajabhat University represent a financially viable investment. Positive net present value and internal rate ofreturn, together with a short payback period, indicate that the project is attractive and worthwhile for university investment.
